AccuPixel Photogrammetry Mentoring – Becky Kagan Schott

When Simon started to work with photogrammetry few were working underwater and living at the bleeding edge creating 3D models was at times challenging. Little did we know we could come to a position to offer Photogrammetry Mentoring.

But with the encouragement and direct support of others – not least of which was Agisoft themselves – Simon persisted and pushed at the boundaries of what was possible, building kit like the Heart of Gold to cover massive areas and scanning wrecks such as the SS Thistlegorm.

The time has now come to pay back that support and pass it on, so it gives us great pride to announce that Becky Kagan Schott of Liquid Productions has agreed to join the AccuPixel mentoring program to take her photogrammetry to the next level.

Becky comes with a fantastic list of achievements. Some include multiple Emmy Awards for her work with the camera in some very challenging environments. AccuPixel directors Jose & Simon have been keeping a close eye on her work for some time. It was clear to us the source images – the foundations of high quality photogrammetry – were in place.

Adding the Value to Photogrammetry Mentoring

So it’s time for Becky to take the step from creating visually appealing 3D models and adding considerably more value with accurate scaling and geo referencing. Scaling allows us to take any arbitrary linear or volumetric measurement with high confidence. Geo-referencing tells us where in the world the wreck is located.

Added together both add immense value to the model and the massive detail ortho photos and digital elevation models photogrammetry can create. We cannot wait to see the scaled ortho photo of Becky’s recent scan of the B-17G bomber in Vis, Croatia. We think the level of detail will be truly stunning. Additionally, We are proud to offer her Photogrammetry Mentoring.

Mentoring Program Benefits

Becky will be working through AccuPixel’s Agisoft endorsed Standard and Professional courses. Furthermore, these are intended to teach photogrammetry to a forensic level and Agisoft will be supplying a Metashape Professional license.

All AccuPixel students get 1:1 support and assistance. Becky is already thinking about tackling subjects that will need a new approach. Its going to be a very interesting and challenging time for all as we figure out new techniques. Additionally, these experiences will enable us to improve future Photogrammetry Mentoring services,

So, we will keep everyone updated as Becky takes photogrammetry and starts to merge art with science. We believe it’s going to be a fantastic journey.

The mentoring program extends beyond underwater applications. We are actively looking for others who are ready to take the next step.

Do you know anyone working in archaeology, cultural heritage, surveying, forensics or collision investigation? Whatever field photogrammetry is being applied. Its possible, they could benefit from the AccuPixel photogrammetry mentoring program. If so, Please use the contact us page to nominate them.
